The trend of local banks hiring top talent from one another continues: Miami-based City National Bank of Florida has hired a top private banker and lending officer from a rival financial institution.
Christopher V. Damian, executive vice president, director of private banking and chief lending office at Coral Gables-based Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust has made the move to City National. Damian will assume the role of executive VP of private client and wealth management and is expected to start next week.
City National declined to comment. Gibraltar did not return requests for comment.
Damian has spent nearly two decades at Gibraltar, according to his LinkedIn page. Damian was promoted in October 2015 to his current role from his position as director of private banking at Gibraltar.
Before joining the Coral Gables bank in 1999, Damian worked as a VP at Citibank Private Bank and assistant VP at NationsBank.
Damian is a graduate of the University of Florida and is a founding board member of the nonprofit Educate Tomorrow.
This is just the latest talent coup by City National – the bank hired a team of at least seven from Miami Lakes-based BankUnited earlier this year.
